Submission of Journals to PubMed Central (PMC)
Submission of Journals to PubMed Central (PMC)
Participation in PubMed Central is open to any journal in the Life Sciences' segment published in English and which is compliant with the National Library of Medicine of the United States’ (NLM) standards for submission.
The submission process occurs in two phases: evaluation of the files' 'Scientific Quality'; and its 'Technical Quality'. The journals already indexed in MEDLINE have their scientific merit evaluation approved more quickly by PMC. The second phase comprises evaluation of the journals XML, images and PDFs, to verify fulfillment of PubMed Central's minimum technical requirements.
Starting Submission Process
To start the submission process, the publisher needs to contact PubMed Central following the guidelines in Add a Journal to PMC: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/pub/pubinfo/.
Below is the email model to contact PubMed Central. If the publisher wishes, after approval of scientific merit for indexing by PubMed Central, SciELO may undertake submission for the journal's technical evaluation (preparation of the first XML file package to evaluate the minimum technical criteria required by PubMed Central). The costs regarding package submission preparation shall be shared with the journal. In order to do so, we ask that the publisher contacts us through the email scielo@scielo.org to obtain information regarding procedure and values.
